Proposal for Health, Safety and Management
Professional Retainer Services:

Introduction:
Dan Terry has been an active health and safety professional speaker and consultant for over 18 years and is a fully chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). He is currently employed in over 15 different sectors including Oil and Gas, Power Sector, Manufacturing and Education undertaking tasks from leading safety initiative, retained health and safety advisor, incident investigations through to comprehensive training portfolio risk assessments and the writing and drafting of company polices/procedures.
With staffing costs, and rising legal costs, not to mention how busy and demanding health and safety managers/directors are, it is beneficial to employ the services of an outside competent health and safety advisor in line with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (MHSWR 1999) on a retainer basis, this approach has many distinct benefits;
Benefits:

  • Allows for a pro-active approach for the health and safety manager/director to move the safety culture forward instead of being caught up in the day to day issues.
  • Instant competent advice and help at anytime*, both face to face or over the telephone/email.
  • Specialised experience in delivering professional training programmes from a half day course to a full behavioural based programme lasting several weeks
  • Valuable experience of carrying out day to day health and safety activities and all types of risk assessments, i.e. CoSHH, Manual handling, Display Screen Equipment.
  • Valuable experience with leading teams to include mentoring and coaching
  • Experience in writing, drafting policies, systems of work and training of staff.
  • Conducting face to face health and safety interviews with management and staff.
  • Chairing of health and safety meetings and investigations.
  • Experience writing, interviewing and preparing incident and accident reports.
  • Providing the organisation with the necessary health and safety updates where applicable.
  • Access to a professional health and safety advisory service for a fraction of the cost, saving on time, money and sometimes frustration.
  • Experience of dealing with external services for health and safety issues. (i.e. HSE etc.)
  • Experience with dealing, tendering and qualifying outside contractors and agencies.

Retainer Service:
A professional retained consultant would help and assist the health and safety department/safety manager or director with many of the day to day issues occurring on sites.
Different options are available, which are based on a 12 month period initially, the hours of work would be in line with a typical working day (0830 – 1630*) however this can include out of normal hours, and would include report/procedure writing, spent on or off the premises and would include working from our offices i.e. drafting/updating policies or procedures etc.
